Test Ride #1 San Diego

We’re taking our first multi-day test trike ride next
week. The literary is in my hands. 1) We ride to Union Station, downtown Los Angeles
(@20 miles) and take the train to Solana Beach, just north of San Diego. 2) We
ride from Solana Beach train station to the campgrounds and set up 3) we break
camp Friday morning and ride to Capistrano beach (@50 miles), to our (the
Morris family) timeshare (I am looking forward to that!). 4) We ride from Capistrano beach to home in
Carson (@50 miles). Sounds simple? But there is a lot of planning that goes into
this trip.

The DREAM

Pat and I met at the 2006 Amgen California Coast Classic bike ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles. Not only did we hit it off but our husbands, Dave and Bruce, clicked too. All four of us rode the Amgen Coast Classic in 2007.

I seem to remember Pat planting her dream in my mind, to ride across the United States, at that time. My first reaction?? ARE YOU KIDDING?? Riding over 500 miles in 8 days is crazy enough, now you're talking about months of riding over purple mountain majesty and through amber waves of grain??

AND

I HAVE to camp??? What the heck? I'm a city gal. I do NOT camp.

Pat kept watering that dream. Then it took root. Now it's growing strong.
